This year, the children of Long Sutton School have done a fantastic job of supporting the charity 'Readifood'!Starting with an enormous collection of tins and packets for last year's Harvest Festival, the children have since been working in their houses to raise money for the charity. At the end of the year, a truly impressive sum of nearly £1000 was delivered to the charity's director, representing enormous hard work and generosity on the part of the children and the families and friends that supported them.
This was the response received by Malcolm Peirce, the director of Readifood and Alison Peyton his support worker:
I am overwhelmed by the wonderful achievement of the children and staff at
Long Sutton CE Primary - please pass on a huge 'Thank you' to them. I recall
the hoard of tins that were delivered at Harvest time. I had been in
this job about 2 weeks at that time. Now looking back, and with a year of
running Readifood, I really appreciate every tin that is donated. I know how
the food helps the mums, kids, young and old people that I visit every week.
You, the staff, and every child at Long Sutton have every right to be very
proud of yourselves.
So with Many thanks and God bless you,
Alison Peyton
Support Worker (Readifood)
I too am quite overwhelmed that such a small school could raise so much
money for us. I can't thank you enough.
I understand that you asked Alison how we would spend the money... around
this time of year we find ourselves running out of stocks and have to buy
food in bulk to replenish our stocks. Last year we spent something in the
order of £4,000 in direct purchases so your donation will make a huge difference in covering this cost.
Thank you once again,
Malcolm Peirce
