On Monday 8th June, 10 children were selected to take part in RAF Odiham's annual 'Chinook Pull 2009'.
We arrived at 3:00pm to be greeted with the news that we were last on the list - all the adult teams went first so we had to wait until 4.15 until we got our chance. When the time finally came for our go, we all took our positions, holding one of the two ropes that were attached to the chinook's wheels. A huge green flare signalled that it was time to start pulling... We managed to pull the ten-ton aircraft a whole ten metres (With the help of a slight downhill slope and the aircrew pushing from behind!)
After all the races were over, we got the chance to see inside the chinook and were allowed into the actual cockpit.
A great time was had by all and over £10,000 was raised.
